Finally made the tough decision that i will not be competing at the Mid-Atlantic hopper Challenge this November. It was tough but i think its the right call. Right now, i feel like my knee is at 80% of where it was at the beginning of the year. I need it to be at 100% by the end of the year, and compete at the Charlottesville Super-Fit games in January. Just gotta keep working at my knee. Today i got to Balance early this afternoon and had the gym to myself. My plan was a quick strength and long met con.
Strength: Deadlifts
3-3-3-3-3-3
Started with 225# and my last set was 405#. The last set felt heavier than usual. I guess i have lost a little strength, but i'm still working on getting stronger.
Met Con: "Daniel"
For time:
50 Pullups
400m run
21 Thrusters (95#)
800m run
21 Thrusters (95#)
400m run
50 Pullups
First set of pullups took me a little over 2 minutes. The first run felt great, but took over a 90 seconds. Legs were a little sore from yesterday, so my thrusters were a little slower than usual. I was winded going into the second run, and i knew that the next round of thrusters were going to be really ugly. They took me over 90 seconds to complete 21 thruster! The last run took it out off me. And the final pullups were just a joke. Had to break them in sets of 10. Finished with a respectful time of 22:45. I need to improve my running techniques cause i know i can finish this wod faster. Next time i do this workout, my goal is to get it in sub 18.
Great quote i found:
"If the day's workout prescribes hard work (as opposed to recovery or conversational intensity) & you can read a magazine, or talk, or take a sip of your favorite sports drink, or recognize it's your phone ringing, or if you're not feeling dizzy, then you aren't working hard. Avoiding hard work isn't wrong but it should not be confused w embracing effort, mouth wide open & giving it a bit of tongue."

that quote = awesome. Stay smart with your body Steve. No Hopper for me either, but its because I am fat, not injured.
Steve,
Don't know about this thing called hopper, but we wish you the best of luck here. We are pulling for you! Continue to be motivation for us!
Am sure that it was a tough, but correct decision, allowing you to regain strength and get back on track to where you were. Hang in there--you continue to inspire.
